Bridging Personal Experience and Business Success: A Journey with Myasthenia Gravis
particles

This project holds personal significance for us as it stems from witnessing the challenges faced by one of our team members' mother who battled the disease for over 50 years. Through our joint efforts, we've successfully launched a pilot program in Spain, showcasing promising results in enhancing patient care. This achievement underscores the powerful convergence of personal experience and professional innovation in our mission to make a meaningful difference in healthcare.

Bob Moens :

When personal stories and business go hand in hand ...In 1982, when I was 10, my mother, a socially engaged inspirational person, began experiencing debilitating fatigue and blurred vision, symptoms that mystified doctors for years. Despite her condition, she continued to provide me with unwavering support, love, and guidance ❤️.

It wasn't until four years later that a newly graduated GP 🙏 , with keen attention in neurology, suspected a rare disease: myasthenia gravis. This diagnosis was confirmed by specialized neurologists in Brussels & Antwerp. Yet, finding the right treatment was a challenge due to the fluctuating nature of the symptoms, seriously affecting her quality of life for the next 50 years. Recent advancements in Belgian 🇧🇪 👏 biotechnology have led to the development of new, effective medications for #myastheniagravis, offering hope for improved quality of life for patients.

It's with a deep personal connection that I share how moveUP Labs was approached by argenx to develop a digital symptom tracker for myasthenia gravis, to help care teams monitoring their patients more effectively. In 2023, we defined the scope, built the application and dashboards, and launched a pilot in Spain, which has already shown promising results, according to a recent report. One of the articles can be found here (in Spanish 😉), happy to share more on request :https://lnkd.in/eDrzbCrE

This endeavor has not only been a professional achievement but a deeply personal one, allowing me to contribute to the well-being of individuals like my mother. I'm grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those affected by myasthenia gravis. Thank you for the collaboration Dr Elena Cortés and team, Yan Agalarov Bibiana da Rocha, PhD,MBA and the whole argenx team, and the people & platform of moveUP - digital therapies Laurens Baes Ilse Delobelle Wanne Wiersinga

Thank you for letting me share this journey.
