Discover the findings of our co-founder, Charles-Eric Winandy:
Two inspiring days in Berlin at Frontiers Health last week. I had the opportunity to meet and discuss with great leaders & entrepreneurs.
My key takeaways:
Patients will have more power. Not because it is given to them, but because they will take it, enabled by the latest AI development, as shown by Dave deBronkart, “e-Patient Dave”. This reinforces the need to move away from “healthcare services” to either healthcares products or to healthcare experiences, as explained by Christophe Jauquet.
Healthcare needs to catch up with the world around us. Pharma companies need to stop thinking of digital as an add on. software-enhanced-drugs, as explained by David Benshoof Klein from Click Therapeutics, Inc. show how 1+1=3. To reach this, partnerships are the future.
Malin Johansson from Novo Nordisk, Peter Speyer from Novartis Foundation , Fabrizio Conicella from Chiesi Group, Dr. Felix Lambrecht from MEDICE - The Health Family, all shared inspiring examples of what - and how - they innovate in that field. Pilots are good - but let’s also have the plans to scale from day one so we don’t do pilot after pilot after pilot. Start small - think big !
Investment in digital health is finally recovering. Deals are coming back and 2024 will surpass 2023. But don’t be fooled. Expectations are more rational, realistic. And AI is, and will remain, a key driver for investment. Not “buzzword” AI, but AI that answers the real & concrete needs of the healthcare industry.See you next year, health innovators!
